D2D glossary / How reps get paid
What is an install rate in door-to-door sales?
Install rate (pull-through): Install rate, or pull-through, is the share of your signed deals that reach installation. Since most commission is paid on installs, it is the number that turns sales into pay.
A rep who signs ten deals and sees eight installed has an eighty percent install rate. Deals drop out for many reasons: the customer cancels, credit or financing is declined, the home fails a site survey, the address turns out not to be serviceable, or the install is never scheduled.
Some of that is outside your control, and some is not. Good reps qualify before they sell and stay in touch with the customer between signature and install day. When you compare companies, ask about their operations too: slow installs lose deals no matter how well you sold them.
Ask before you sign
What share of signed deals install here, and how long does an install usually take?
