What is a one-legger in sales?
One-legger: A one-legger is a sales appointment where only one of the household's decision-makers is present. Deals signed that way cancel more often, because the absent person can still say no.
The term comes from in-home sales such as solar, windows and roofing, where a purchase usually needs both spouses or every owner to agree. When one is missing, the sale often ends in "let me talk to my partner" or in a cancellation the next day.
The fix happens before the appointment. Setters are trained to ask who makes decisions about the home and to book a time when everyone is there. Many companies will not pay a setter for an appointment that turns out to be a one-legger.
