What is a ride-along in door-to-door sales?
Ride-along: A ride-along, or shadow day, is time spent on the doors with an experienced rep before or just after you are hired, so you can watch real conversations and see what the job is.
A ride-along is the most honest preview the industry offers. In a few hours you see the pace, the rejection, how a good rep opens a conversation and what a sale looks like. Many companies use it as the last step of the interview; good ones offer it without being asked.
Use it to judge the company as well. Watch how the rep describes the product and the price, whether they respect No Soliciting signs and permit rules, and whether customers are told the truth.
