What is third-party verification (TPV) in sales?
Third-party verification (TPV): Third-party verification is a recorded call or digital check, run by an independent company, where the customer confirms in their own words that they agree to the sale. Energy and telecom sales use it.
After the customer says yes, the rep connects them to a verification service. An agent or automated system asks a short list of questions: who they are, that they are authorized to decide, and that they understand they are changing providers and on what terms. The recording is kept as proof of consent.
Rules commonly require the rep to step away or stay silent during the call. Coaching the answers or answering for the customer voids the sale and can end your contract. A sale that passes verification cleanly is far less likely to be disputed or charged back.
