What is a do-not-knock registry?

Do-not-knock registry: A do-not-knock registry is a list of addresses, kept by some cities, whose residents have asked not to be visited by solicitors. Where one exists, permitted reps must stay away from those homes.

Only some cities run a registry. Where they do, residents sign up with the city, and the list is given to solicitors with their permit or posted online. Knocking a listed address can bring a fine or cost you the permit.

A registry works alongside No Soliciting signs, not instead of them. If your territory includes a city with a list, get the current copy from your manager or the permit office before you start.
